The Deer Stalking Certificate (DSC) is administered by 'Deer Management Qualifications Ltd' (DMQ), a consortium of bodies, which, amongst other, includes;
· The British Deer Society
· The British Association for Shooting & Conservation
· The Game Conservancy
· The Deer Commission for Scotland
· The County Landowners Association
The Certificate is awarded at Two Levels
· Level I is the basic level where candidates must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the ecology and lifestyle of the six species of Deer in the wild in this country and also a level of competence in shooting and weapon handling safety procedures.
· Level II is a practical qualification where candidates must demonstrate their competence in stalking, shooting, carcass handling and inspection on 3 occasions before an accredited witness.
Donington Deer Management can provide assessment days for DSC Level I, together with one, two or three days training prior to assessment, as required.
Short refresher sessions are available for experienced Stalkers wishing to 'brush-up' on a particular aspect of the assessment.
Donington Deer Management can also provide training for DSC Level II, either individually, or in small groups, plus accredited witness status for individual cull activities.
